Privacy Policy

Discovery Nest Early Learning Center (“Discovery Nest,” “we,” “us”) is a licensed child care centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Families trust us with their children, and that trust extends to the information they share with us. This page explains what this website collects, why, and what we will never do with it.
The short version
- We collect only what you choose to send us through our contact form, plus the basic technical data needed to serve and protect this website.
- This website runs no advertising and no tracking cookies, and nothing here follows you to other sites.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for marketing purposes.
- You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
Information we collect
Information you provide. When you use the contact form on this site, we receive what you submit: your name, your email address, and the subject and message you write. Families often include details about their child — an age, a start date they are hoping for, a question about a program. We use that information for one purpose: to reply to you and to talk with you about care at Discovery Nest.
Technical information. This website is served through Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data such as IP addresses and request logs in order to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. We do not use that data to identify or profile visitors. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and how quickly pages load. It is cookieless: it sets nothing on your device, does not follow you to other websites, and does not build a profile of you.
What we do not collect. No advertising cookies. No cross-site trackers. No social media pixels. No analytics profiles tied to you. Our fonts are served from our own site rather than a third-party font network, so simply reading these pages does not hand your visit to an outside company.
Services we rely on
Like every website, this one depends on a small set of providers, each used for one narrow purpose:
- Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery, security, and cookieless traffic measurement.
- Web3Forms — relays contact-form submissions to our inbox. The form is not stored in a database on this website.
- Google Workspace — hosts our email, including info@discoverynest.net.
- Google Maps — the map on our contact page is embedded from Google and loads only on that page.
Some of these providers process data outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, the data is limited to what is described above and is subject to those providers’ safeguards. If you would rather not use the web form, you are always welcome to email or call us directly.
Waitlist registration
Our waitlist registration form is not hosted on this website. When you choose “Open the Registration Form” on our waitlist page, you are taken to TimeSavr, the child care registration service we use. Information you enter there is collected through that service and provided to us so we can contact you about availability. TimeSavr’s own privacy terms apply to that form.
Children’s information
This website is written for parents and caregivers, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children through it. Information about a child that a parent or guardian sends us — through the contact form, by email, or by phone — is used only to answer that inquiry and to discuss enrollment. Records that we keep about children actually enrolled at the centre are handled under our enrollment paperwork and the requirements that apply to licensed child care in Alberta, not under this website policy.
Consent and how we contact you
By sending us a message, you consent to us using the information in it to reply and to follow up about the care you asked about. We do not run a newsletter and we do not add you to a marketing list without your express consent. Any commercial email we might send would identify us and include a working unsubscribe option, as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation.
Blog and affiliate links
Our registry guides recommend products our families and educators genuinely use. Some of those links are Amazon affiliate links, which means the Nest may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Following one of those links takes you to Amazon, where Amazon’s own privacy terms apply. We do not receive any personal information about what you view or buy there.
Retention
We keep inquiry correspondence only as long as we need it to handle your request and to keep ordinary business records. If you ask us to delete information we hold about you and we have no legal or contractual reason to keep it, we will.
Your rights
Under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s PIPEDA, you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent. Write to us at info@discoverynest.net. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Security
This site is served over an encrypted connection, with security headers and a content security policy in place, and it collects as little as possible. No system is perfectly secure, but collecting almost nothing is the strongest safeguard there is.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
